Week 14: April 2 – April 8

Week 14 takes us into the strange and ancient world of Leviticus. We will spend two weeks here so hang in there and keep reading.

Living in The Story gives insight into this world of rules and ritual by reading Leviticus along side the New Testament letter to the Hebrews. Reading Hebrews from the first century offers 21st Christians insight into faithful ways of re-thinking and re-reading our own sacred texts.

The Hebrews author was surely steeped in the traditions of the Tabernacle and Temple; of the priestly system and the sacrificial system. But the Jewish Christian theologians who had experienced the Christ Event were forced to re-think the meaning of their ancient practices of worship and discover in a new way how they pointed to the life-death-resurrection of the Christ. Worship of the One True Holy God takes on new meaning when understood through the lens of the Christ.
